In Poland, Arriva RP is the first private passenger railway operator providing services on a large scale. Arriva’s long-standing experience in public transport in European markets led to its success in 2007 when it won the tender to operate diesel rail services in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship. Currently, Arriva operates nearly 50% of passenger connections in this region, serving 100 stations and stops, and covers 2.6 million train-kilometers. Arriva has a fleet of 37 rail vehicles, maintained at its base in Nowa Wieś Wielka. The company employs over 200 people.

What did the client expect?

Arriva RP was looking for a consultant to help develop and implement business continuity plans. They wanted a company with a solid market position, years of experience, a proven track record in similar projects, and positive references. The choice fell on PBSG. Our advantage was a rich portfolio in the field of BCM service implementation, which included companies from the transport and railway sectors. The total duration of the entire project was 12 weeks.

What did we do?

WE REVIEWED THE DOCUMENTATION

In the first step, we focused on reviewing the current BCM documents for any potential gaps and opportunities for updates.

WE CONDUCTED RISK AND BIA ANALYSES

We conducted a risk analysis and BIA analysis, which helped to clearly define the framework related to the organization’s resilience and business continuity.

WE MET WITH EMPLOYEES

We organized workshops for representatives of critical areas. The insights from the brainstorming sessions helped us prepare a documentation update plan tailored to the organization’s needs and market requirements.

WE PREPARED THE DOCUMENTATION

The results from the conducted analyses and interviews with employees served as the basis for developing business continuity plans, outlining the strategies and procedures to be followed in the event of unexpected situations.

What were the results?

The BCM documentation update enhanced the organizational resilience of Arriva RP, helping to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards related to operational continuity. The documentation we prepared was fully tailored to the organization’s specifics, as well as the market and client requirements.

The implementation of the business continuity plans helped Arriva RP better respond to incidents such as technical failures or natural disasters, as well as quickly identify key areas of operations. As a result, the company can focus on restoring priority areas (services), minimizing negative impacts on customers and business partners, while maintaining their trust.

In summary, the company strengthened its crisis resilience through employee training, regular plan testing, and updates to adapt to changing business conditions.
