What did the client expect?
A.T. Kearney was seeking IT security consulting and security testing services from an experienced external company. The company was looking for simulations of potential attacks on the IT environment, which would identify vulnerabilities in the security system. They required penetration testing of the web application, a clear and thorough report, as well as verification of implemented changes through retesting.
We responded to the request for proposal, met with the client, and prepared a survey, which allowed us to precisely define the scope of the project. After analyzing the consulting market in Poland, the client ultimately chose to collaborate with PBSG. Our comprehensive approach, the availability of testers, and our extensive experience with similar tasks, backed by positive references, were key factors in the decision. As a result, we were able to start the project in the second half of 2023.
What did we do?

In the first step, we conducted reconnaissance and identified attack vectors. This allowed us to define the objective of the penetration tests.

We conducted a controlled attack (simulation) on the most likely attack vectors that could disrupt the functioning of the web application.

We prepared a practical and clear report, including a description of the security vulnerabilities found and recommendations on how to address them.

Finally, we ensured that the recommended changes were implemented and correctly executed. To do this, we conducted verification retests.
What were the results?
The project was divided into logical stages, which helped build the organizational and technical capabilities to ensure the proper level of security. The client emphasized flexibility and efficiency – the work was to be carried out dynamically to avoid disrupting the ongoing operations and achieve the best result in the shortest possible time. We met these requirements excellently.
Thanks to our consulting and a specialized team of penetration testers, the IT environment was thoroughly examined and hardened against potential attacks through the recommendations provided in the report. We pointed out how to respond to detected threats and what steps to take to eliminate them.
